Barbara Morris taught Kaska at Johnson Elementary School in Watson Lake, Yukon from 1986 to 2003. She graduated from the Yukon College Native Language Instructors Certificate Course in 1989, and from the Diploma course in 1999. Barbara continues to participate in the Kaska Literacy workshops offered by the Yukon Native Language Centre.
